Our Goal
It is our goal to breed a true dual purpose Irish Dexter. We want a cow that has good udder attachment, excellent feet and correct leg structure and also provides high quality beef and carcass yields. In the bulls we look for the similar structure and the ability to have the right fleshing qualities that will deliver a high end percentage of dressage at harvest.
Our Location
K2 Ranch and Cattle Company has its office in San Antonio, Texas while the ranch is located in Atascosa County just south of Pleasanton, Texas about 30 minutes south of the historic Alamodome.
How We Started
Cattle have always been part of our dreamscape. We started by raising a few cows for beef and breeding from local area ranchers stock. K2 strived to do something unique that nobody else in the area was doing. Therefore we transitioned from commercial cattle to Simmentals and then Simmental crosses with full-blood Maine-Anjou bulls. Finally we have found what works for us and other small landowners and that is Irish Dexters.
Irish Dexters
Getting up in age and learning about what to look for in beef, we have started selling beef. The meat from Irish Dexters is great tasting, it also has the right blend of oleic acids which makes them much healthier to eat, and results in the superb palatability and tenderness of the steaks. But don’t just take our word for it, ask your butcher for Irish Dexter beef, if he doesn't carry it, send us an email or call us.
The Strength Behind Our Business
Irish Dexter cattle are now the strength behind our ranching business and a huge part of our lives. We promote these cattle at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. K2 Ranch and Cattle Company has been fortunate enough to have a Reserve Grand Champion Steer in 2008 and 2009, Along with the runner up bull to the Great Kahn in 2008.
